You make me nostalgic for a past enoch
Far removed
fingers stretching like
the inlets of a river to grasp a memory
The water
mingling with the foliage, stopping long enough to bump into each another by happenstance.
But isn’t that how lost souls find one another?
Isn’t that how WE found each other?
Pulling, searching deeply for something greater, some
unobtainable feature of this existence.

You make my heart hum
in choruses that even heaven itself
has yet to hear
the magnitude of beauty some foreign holy order.
Combinations of words, ordered just so
Your
Syntax could make a dictionary swoon
Your literary prowess
my addiction.

We grasped each other in moments
Time which
Felt rushed and long gone away
Moving towards silence and locked away feelings
Hoping for sunnier skies, clearer thoughts, escape
From this abyss that we’ve fallen into
Falling into separation and away from love and sincere connection
It
Was
Finished
Differences left to be reconciled
Sweet words on lips that never materialized to be spoken on account of hard feelings

But
new words, in an order I don’t recognize come from your mouth
Appear like smoke out of thin air, an additive to your witty charm
‘I’m sorry’
I pause, trying to keep my pounding head from ringing like freedom
Even in your sincerity
You leave
Me
Raw
