How often do you tell someone that you appreciate them? Lately I have been making this my mission: to tell at least three people per day that I appreciate something that they do. Sometimes it’s other teachers, sometimes it’s the custodial staff, and sometimes it’s students. People easily become discouraged and it is our job to build each other up, rather than tear each other down. How much better would our world be if everyone tried to do this?

I truly believe that building each other up and encouraging others is one of the easiest things you can do to make the world a better place. Showing the smallest bit of appreciation for someone may make a huge impact on their lives. I live by the motto “if you can help someone who needs help, you should.” Appreciation is just another form of helping others.
