Introduction:

Ferns N Petal (FNP) is a well known Indian gifting and floral company that operates both online and offline. The FNP app serves as a convenient platform for users to browse and purchase a wide range of gifts, flowers and personalized items for various occasions such as Birthdays, Anniversary, Festivals and more.

Problem Statement :

The current gift selling app suffers from multiple usability challenges, prominently featuring a cluttered and perplexing Home screen with redundant data, obscured display of app offers during the payment process leading to potential oversight by users, persistent color mismatch issues , unengaging add on screen and an overall lack of arrangement of various app screens. The app is unable to differentiate between the completed and incompleted task. Furthermore, the absence of adequate breathing space between product images and an underwhelming search function exacerbates the apps usability challenges.

These issues collectively diminish user engagement, impair the overall user experience and undermine the apps credibility.

Why this Redesign ?

With the rise in online shopping, users have high expectation for user friendly interfaces. Redesigning the app to ensure that the users can easily navigate the app, find what they want and complete their purchase without frustration.

Goals:

  • The goal is to eliminate repetitive data, declutter the Home Screen to make it more intuitive and user friendly.
  • To create a consistent color scheme throughout the app to make it visually appealing.
  • To redesign the product display to include adequate spacing between images.
  • To redesign the add on screens to make them visually engaging and relevant to the user.
  • To improve task status indicators to avoid users’ confusions between the completed and incompleted tasks.

Competitive Analysis

Competitive Analysis helps in understanding the strengths and weaknesses of competitor’s products or services and helps to make better decisions and user experiences for your product.

Competitive Analysis to analyze the basic features of the app

PRIMARY RESEARCH

Understanding user needs is a crucial part of UX/UI Design. I have created four user personas based on my research and interviews which helped me to improve my design.

Based on the User Personas I have landed to some HMW (How Might We) Insights

HMW simplify the Home Screen and reduce the clutter?

HMW establish design consistency across all app screens?

HMW improve the visibility of the Add-On Screen?

HMW prevent user confusion regarding task status?

HMW make app offers more visible during the payment process?

IDEATING: Sketching and Wireframes

Creating wireframes is important as they provide a structural blueprint for the user interface, allowing designers to visualis and plan the layout and the functionality of a digital product.

I have created few sketches and compared them with each other and finally brought out the best one to continue in my work.

CONCLUSION:

The implemented solutions aim to transform the existing app into a more user friendly, visually appealing and reliable platform. The goal is to improve user satisfaction, engagement, and trust, ultimately helping the app for greater success in the competitive market of online gift sales.

My Learnings :

This is my first case study and it has been a great experience , I have learned a lot and I believe that there is much more to cover it’s just the beginning. Collecting real data is quiet challenging and also not all the problems can be solved at a time , we need to prioritize the problem to bring out the best.

Hope you like it!!!😊Thankyou for Reading.
