Santa Barbara oil spill: what the pipelines did to the beautiful ocean

An onshore pipeline is the cause of the Santa Barbara oil spill. The pipeline ruptured and leaked more than 100,000 gallons of crude on coast lands and into the ocean.Santa Barbara once had one of the most beautiful beaches in the United states before the disaster of the pipelines took place in May, 2015.
This is not the first time Santa Barbara has suffered from oil spills. In January 1969, an oil well blew up off the coast of Santa Barbara, spilling an estimated three million gallons of black goo into the ocean

Santa Barbara has a good community of volunteers that were willing to help on the mission of cleaning the beach. Even though, It has been a year since the oil spills occurred, there are still areas that are affected by the spills in the Goleta and Santa Barbara beaches.
