What Shri Shri Thakur Anukulchandra says about Meditation?

There is an eternal urge in man to be attached to something in order to remain conscious about his own existence. Through this he feels distinct from others. When he is attached to someone, he does not only become conscious about himself but also enjoys him to whom he is attached. He wants to become like him and tries to assimilate his characteristics. Everything in the world tries to divert his mind and sever his bond of love. But this makes him all the more conscious of the fact that he is distinct from others. He begins to realize what he is what he aspires after. As our attachment deepens, the brain and nerves are so tuned as to provide stimulus to bodily organs to carry out those impulses that would fulfil the Love Lord appropriately and with great enthusiasm. This magnetic pull of love may be called `Surat’ or word current. This is the magnetic ex-pression of human existence. If a person is attached to someone, he normally keeps thinking about him. When his mind is absorbed in such thoughts, other things try to sidetrack and obsess him by enticing his complexes and thus try to shake off his attachment. Out of this conflict develops the power of discrimination the power to distinguish right from wrong. Thus one is able to discover what will fulfill the object of love. This gives one the awareness about those things and the knowledge what is favorable and propitious to his own existence and what is not. And the object of love leaves an indelible stamp on his brain as well. The more one develops one’s love for him, the more a person likes to absorb and enjoy him in unique ways. A person’s spontaneous love urge or attachments for someone unifies him with the name. The more one goes on repeating the holy name; stronger and steadier his urge becomes. As a result not only do the brain and nerves grow more and more sensitive but so do all the cells of the human organism as well. As the sensitivity of the system increases one is able to feel and enjoy the object of love all the more. The hunger for Name is thus automatically aroused.
These Holy Names are generally representative of or personifying the Ideal. And thus, the more our cells become sensitive and receptive, the more heat is generated in our system and gradually one hears the eternal sound that rolls in the bosom of the Beyond and one also perceives different lights and images, as for example, the words `aum’, `rang’, `hring’, and `kling’ etc.

And there are many varieties of sounds and images also. If anyone hears a sound and perceives an image in the course of this practice he is said to be the seer who has realized that particular sound or `mantra’.
And as result of this repetition of the Holy Name and the loving contemplation about the seer of that `mantra’ one undergoes similar experiences. In the scriptures this is known as `Vija Mantra’ or root sound. For example, if repeat the word `aum’ and if I am attached to the seer who has realized that sound, he becomes the ideal of my life. And the word `Aum’ is all that he has acquired and realized and he becomes representative of that sound.”

A discussion on meditation:
Lovely materials on meditation ! Indeed. Pls also try to find Sri Sri Thakurji’s sayings on the subject: “On whom to mediate.” (although the given articles do contain indications on this.)It is very crucial. Almost everyone accepts the importance of meditation, but very few ( among non-Satsangees ) realize on whom/what should they meditate. It wd not be wrong to say that 90–95% people who mediate have not got it right. Not their fault alone. This teaching has been missing since long.Meditation on wrong person / object can cause downfall and create problems for the ‘Surat’ by distrubing the Chakras of the Kundalini. For example, mediation on vacuum is a disaster. Then, there is misunderstanding of ‘Fixation’ with concentration’ (meditation). Example- when we disciples of Sri Sri Thakurji are asked to visualise His image at the agya-chakra. We realise that when we visualise it disappears the very next moment. All wrong thoughts distract us. We are unable to ‘fix’ the image in the agya-chakra. This process is called “Fixation”. This is NOT meditation or concentration !! Normally, it takes a very long time to cross this level of fixation. And even then, if a person sits, say, an hour in mediation, the ACTUAL mediation is about 10–20 mts only. Moreover, to ‘fix’ His image doesn’t mean fixing one single image, rather a dynamic flow of His images, without getting distracted. Plus, synchronizing this with proper repetition and pronunciation of the Beej-mantra is another major task. To begin with, every inhalation should be one expression of mantra and the exhalation with another ONE repetition. Then, the majority get the pronunciation wrong, about which we can’t discuss here…….. In a nutshell, to start proper mediation it requires lots of practice. (A few ppl get it right from the start due to their past karmas).Another aspect is the effect on the Guru. Many unfit people who are not siddhas have become gurus in post-Buddha period in particular. What happens that when the disciple meditates the Guru’s entity descends down in his consciousness. His energies flow down to the disciple. Then, if the guru is not s siddha or Seer he is unable to recuperate and his own development gets retarded. This is a major cause of the degeneration of the Vipras ( Brahmins) community, as pointed out by Sri Sri Thakurji ( See..” Amiya Varta / Amiya Bani). On of the famous slogans of Sri Sri Thakurji is:”Siddha nahi, mantra deMare, maare, kare kshay.”( When a non-siddha person gives out mantra as initiation by becoming a guru, he self-destructs, destroys and harms all)Not only the gurus, even the Sah -Prati Ritwiks ( SPRs) of Sri Sri Thakurji have to be very careful. They are the postmen of Sri Sri Thakurji. Their duty is to pass on the beej-mantra of Sri Sri Thakurji.
ANANT SHRI BABA has pointed out that while doing so, these SPRs also loose lot of energies. However, proper and continuous ‘sadhna’ enables them to recuperate and move further on the path of growth. But how many of SPRs do proper & intense ‘sadhna’ ? A SPR needs to do mediation for hours everyday. Real meditation, not ‘fixation’. Very few do so.Thats why we see that though Satsang has thousands & thousands of SPRs, the real work of Sri Sri Thakurji has been unachievable till now. First, only highly spiritually-developed individuals should be given ‘panja’ ( SPR authority-ship). Then, we keep on hearing that 20000 ppl hv been initiated here and a 50000 there, plus the Maha-Dikhsa Divas. This all sounds great but unless these are backed by intense & extremely high level of ‘sadhna’ these actions create a havoc in the spiritual dynamics.ANANT SHRI BABA has pointed out that this mess has led to spiritual-pollution of Satsang. As a result, even the person who is doing the things right is getting adversely affected. The cumulative ‘karmas’ also affect individuals. We cannot escape the environment. This is the reason why ANANT SHRI BABA withdrew ‘Panjas’ from all SPRs who had got ‘panja’ after Sri Sri Thakurji left HIS mortal frame. And HE instructed them to undertake several ‘Prayaschit’ ( repentance) -Vratas and intense and very long meditations to regain the loss. This does NOT mean that there is any problem in the policy of Thakur family’s male members giving ‘panjas’. Rather, its in the quality of people being given the “panjas’’ and their subsequent inability to meet the minimum spiritual — levels. Holding a ‘panja’ is not like just doing social work and initiating innumerable people, rather, its basis is maintaining a very high degree of spiritual attainment. The cup has to be big enough to hold the huge amount of water being poured into it ! In all the above cases, the dynamics of meditation is extremely important. Not just the sitting mediation, but mediation in broader sense which requires being immersed in HIM 24 hours.
