GSoC 2023: OpenMRS | Coding period, Week 06
During this week, I developed a deep appreciation for the work of designers. Their meticulous attention to detail is truly amazing. While I may not have a personal interest in pursuing a career in design, I wanted to understand the path one takes to become a designer. Is it an innate attribute or something that can be acquired through education and training? Moreover, I was intrigued to gain insights into how designers approach life and perceive the world around them.
In terms of my progress this week, I had the opportunity to present the advancements made in the print feature during a team meeting. While the overall reception was positive, a designer on the team astutely made a suggestion that might have eluded the notice of a less observant eye. Recognizing that most printing occurs in black and white, they proposed changing the font color from white to black and adjusting the green background to a brighter hue. Their suggestion, upon reflection, makes a lot of sense, especially considering that I have never received a colored document from any healthcare facility throughout my entire life.
I promptly implemented the recommended changes and now await feedback from the team. If they approve of the implementation, I will proceed to incorporate it elsewhere. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Hadijah, Dennis, and Vineet for generously dedicating their time to reviewing my pull requests. Your contributions are invaluable, and I commend you for the excellent work you’re doing.
