Looking Back: My Google Summer of Code Journey
As my Google Summer of Code adventure comes to an end, I can’t help but feel really happy about the big steps I’ve taken. From starting with collecting ideas to working with different teams to make the print feature happen, it’s been an amazing ride.
At first, I thought it would be easy, but I quickly learned that even simple projects have lots of things to think about. It took more time than I expected, and that surprised me. Here are a few things I learned along the way:
1. People Like to Help: Whenever I got stuck, there was always someone who knew more and was ready to help. It’s cool to know that in open source, we all work together to make things better.
2. Even Small Projects Are Tricky: Sometimes things that seem easy turn out to be harder than expected. It’s a reminder that every project has its own challenges.
3. Being Flexible Is Important: Working with different people means listening to lots of ideas. You have to be open to change and choose the best ideas.
Looking forward, this experience means a lot to me. I want to keep being part of open source projects because I learned so much. It’s like a big school where I got to learn things I wouldn’t have learned otherwise.
I want to thank everyone who helped me. My mentors, team members, and everyone else. This journey was great because of all of you. I’m excited for what comes next and to keep learning in the open-source world.
