Android Messaging to Mac OS!
I have been working in my free time on Android Messenger, a desktop messaging client for Android phones. The Android app and Mac OS app are very early stages and simple at the moment, but I am using it regularly on my desktop. Couple of things I noticed about SMS/MMS functionality on Android I thought I’d share.
Firstly, not all SMS/MMS functionality is same on all Android phones. Of course this is a known thing in the Android community. If it works on one phone it should work on all, right? No. It has to be tested. Much of the work for SMS/MMS functionality isn’t even document by Google itself. And some companies like HTC change how the SMS/MMS data is stored in their respective tables.
Android has a concept of a default application. Something very different from iOS where Apple doesn’t allow the default functionality. Only the default SMS/MMS application can make modications to the SMS/MMS database aside from sending a message.
I have a screenshot below of what the application looks like currently, stay tuned!
