Gaming Trends and Projections — the future is mobile
When looking at the games industry, especially its more high profile titles and marketing campaigns, you might think that it’s dominated by console and PC gaming.
Newzoo is a global market intelligence company specialized in gaming and mobile gaming, and according to their recent report, the games industry is growing exponentially — “It took more than 35 years for the global games business to grow to $35 billion in 2007, the year that the iPhone was introduced. Since then, the games market has added an extra $100 billion in revenues to arrive at this year’s total of $137.9 billion worldwide.”
Its most interesting statistic is that mobile gaming is the largest segment in 2018, generating most of all global game revenues for the first time.
In fact, when combining their revenue totals, smartphone and tablet gaming are expected to generate $70.3 billion, accounting for 51% of the total worldwide market. Most of these players do so on smartphones, and this share of the market also has the most players with 2.2 billion.
There are a few reasons for this swing towards mobile: “The uptake of smartphones has been a key contributor to the accelerated growth of the games market, in terms of both engagement and revenues,” the report finds.
Unsurprisingly, this suits KamaGames well due to the company being in the mobile sphere since its inception and accumulating over 100 million players since it launched its first game in 2010.
KamaGames’ progress has happened in tandem with the rise of mobile games. Like the games industry itself, KamaGames has grown healthily and steadily across Europe, North America and beyond. KamaGames also successfully entered new markets as the mobile market in these markets expanded — examples being the partnership with Yoozoo which saw the launch of Poker Champions in the Indian market, while inroads are also being made in China.
The beauty of mobile gaming is that it has no limits — no physical copies, no requirement of console ownership and a price-range that just about anyone can afford. The future of gaming is tilting towards mobile with rising numbers in both users and revenue, and KamaGames are on the crest of this wave.
