UAE affirms great importance on strengthening the protection of human rights

The UAE shows great importance to the promotion and protection of human rights in the country. Country’s cultural heritage, constitution and legislative system promote principles of equality, respect for rights, and support for humanitarian and relief work, in line with the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

“The UAE has been keen to develop its legislative system and continue its national efforts towards promoting the rights of all civil, political, economic, cultural and social rights. During the last period, the state adopted a package of important legislation, which included personal status laws, civil transactions, criminal procedures, the penal code, and combating discrimination and hatred,” Alia Al Ali

The UAE believes in the important and pivotal role played by the Human Rights Council in promoting and protecting human rights. The UAE supports the important role of the Universal Periodic Review of Human Rights of the Council, which allows countries to review their national efforts and experiences in the field of promoting and protecting human rights, and also contributes to the exchange of information, experiences and best practices in the field of human rights.
