The age limit vary from one post to another and one company to another. Their are various department and companies in government sector and it is not possible to discuss about age limit for all post and companies. Below are some Jobs category and type by which you can get an idea about Maximum age limit to apply for job in government jobs-

What is the maximum age limit to apply for government jobs in India. Maximum Age Limits in Indian Government Jobs

The maximum age limit to apply for most of the government jobs is 28–30. However, there is age relaxation as per norms. This is clearly mentioned in the official job notification.

Different government jobs have different age limits (maximum) ranging from 24 to 40 years for general category, however SC, ST and ex-servicemen candidates can avail additional 5 years age relaxation and OBC candidates can avail 3 years while as widows, divorced women and judicially separated women can avail the age .

BHEL -: Candidates age limit should be minimum 18 years & maximum 30 years General category, 33 years for OBC category, 35 years for SC/ ST Category..

ECIL -: Candidates age limit should be minimum 18 years & maximum 35 years .

DRDO-:Candidates age limit should be minimum 21 years & maximum 30 years .

HAL -:Candidates age limit should be minimum 18 years & maximum 65 years .

NTPC -: Candidates age limit should be minimum 18 years & maximum 27 years .

UPPCL -:Candidates age limit should be minimum 21 years & maximum 40 years .

SAIL -:Candidates age limit should be minimum 18 years & maximum 28 years .

GAIL -:Candidates age limit should be minimum 18 years & maximum 28 years .

ONGC -:Candidates age limit should be minimum 18 years & maximum 30 years .

NIC -: Candidates age limit should be minimum 18 years & maximum 27 years .

Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC)

  • General Category — 26 years
  • OBC-29 years
  • SC/ST–31 years
  • Dependents of those who died in the riots of 1984 (Dep1984) -31 years
  • Persons domiciled in Kashmir division of Jammu and Kashmir State from 01/01/1980 to 31/12/1989 (DomKashmir) — 31 years.
  • Physically Challenged persons are eligible for age relaxation of maximum up to 10 years

UPSC Exam conduct through Jobs….The candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years (for the General category candidate) on August 1 of the year of examination. Prescribed age limits vary with respect to caste reservations. For Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST), the limit is 37 years.

  • Apprentice Mechanic (Mechanical/Electrical Diesel)/ Apprentice Signal Inspector/Apprentice Permanent Way Inspector/Depot Store Keeper/Raj Bhasha Sahayak / Apprentice Inspector of Works/Trainee Junior Draftsman (Electrical)/Apprentice Permanent Way Mistry/ Appr. Train Examiner Grade IlI/Appr. Jr. Engineer (Telecommunication/Works) -: 18–33 yrs
  • Train Examiners, Health Inspector -: 18–30 yrs
  • Apprentice Assistant Chargeman (Electronics/Mechanical)/Apprentice Senior Draftsman (Electronics/Mechanical) -: 18–32 yrs
  • Assistant Programmer/Diesel Foreman (Mechanical/ (Electrical)/Law Assistant /Pharmacist/Trainee Chargeman ‘B’ (Electrical/Electronics) -: 20–32 yrs
  • Staff Nurse -: 20–40 yrs
  • Teachers Grade I-IV-: Below 45 yrs

Age limit for various categories of candidates for govt jobs are as follows:

for general candidates — not less than 21 years and more than 30 years

for Scheduled Caste /Scheduled Tribe candidates — The upper age limit will be relaxable by 5 years

for candidates of OBC — relaxable by 3 years

for widowed/divorced women/ women judicially separated from their husbands — the upper age limit is relaxable by 7–10 years.

for Ex-servicemen — the upper age limit is relaxable by 5years.
