According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 1.35 million people die in road accidents each year, and human error is a leading cause of these accidents. With autonomous vehicles, the reliance on human drivers can be minimized, reducing the risk of human error and improving road safety. Self-driving cars are equipped with advanced sensors that can detect obstacles, pedestrians, and other vehicles, and make split-second decisions to avoid collisions. Furthermore, autonomous vehicles can communicate with each other, allowing them to coordinate movements and potentially prevent accidents caused by miscommunication among human drivers.
