I left a response on the Facebook thread in Startup North, but wanted to leave some words here.
I might be looking at this through my lens, but as a woman and/or immigrant, it gets worse.
I’ve heard some of bad experiences and have some bad experiences myself. But as you mention, not everyone is in a place to call out these practices but its more common then I imagined. Perhaps its the cost of ‘growth’ but HR or someone trained in interviewing and recruiting should be one of the early hires as the team scales. It’s not only about sourcing talent pipelines but as you mentioned, being respectful of peoples time and make sure they’re comfortable.
