She was eight and I was nine,

They kidnapped her,

I was taken to the room,

We both were in a village.

She was sexually abused by a group of villagers,

While I was molested by a known man,

she was murdered,

And I ran away.

No, I am not comparing,

Neither were we together,

She went through this in 2018,

I went through it 15 years ago.

We don’t even belong to the same community,

neither do we pray to the same god,

Our families are different

And so are the cities.

Yes, #MeToo felt the way you feel,

When you read about her death,

When those police officers didn’t spare

#MeToo feel the same rage within
