Since the article is aimed at non-technical folk, I wanted the main takeaway to be that they could now understand and participate in moderately technical discussions on the topic. Hearing “sequel” or “non-sequel” might be confusing if they didn’t already know that some people pronounced it that way.
It’s extra confusing because unlike many other pronounced acronyms (“laser”, “scuba”), “sequel” is also an actual English word with an unrelated meaning. Would have been less confusing if the pronunciation had been something like “esskwel” or “skwaal”.
