There has to be a better way to implement 2FA, here’s why.

Hey there!

I am really sorry but I’ve been so busy over the last week with exam prep and marking that I’ve not been able to catch up!

Now that we have that out of the way, this was something that I too actually wanted to try out myself. I don’t have a Google device on hand with me, hence I could not try it out myself. Google’s implementation for sure thwarts the problem that we face in the Apple implementation, but then the whole idea that you need the 8 digit code to login to be able to locate the device is a bit of a miss. I believe Google offers the option to actually receive the 2nd factor code via a voice call over a landline so that is an interesting option indeed. But again, what happens when you are travelling and don’t have access to the landline nominated. 3–5 days to verify the identity is indeed very long but if they could improve this turnaround time, I think that would be a pretty viable solution as well.

Cheers and thanks for reading!
