We all use our microwaves on an everyday basis for cooking a variety of stuff. We also use the microwave for re-heating, thawing, baking or grilling certain foods. But have you ever thought out of the box, and wondered how else a microwave could you help you both in everyday situations and special circumstances? There are plenty of uses, and trust me, all of them are not only about cooking! Here are ten things you probably didn’t your microwave could do.

  1. Peeling that garlic is a cumbersome task. Instead, microwave it for a few seconds and the skin will come off effortlessly. The same is true of onions.
  2. Want to preserve your lentils for a long duration? Just microwave them at 100 per cent and once cooled, store them in containers that are airtight.
  3. Removing a stamp off an envelope can be a breeze f you just add a few drops of water to it and putting it in the microwave for about ten seconds.
  4. The honey in an old jar has turned to crystals? Just microwave the jar without metal/lid, and add a spoon of lime juice. The honey will be back to its earlier viscosity and form!
  5. The maximum germs in the kitchen are in the sponge that you use to wipe counters or scrubs vessels. Submerge the sponge in water, microwave for a minute, and it gets sanitized!
  6. You can extract extra juice from your oranges or lemons by placing them in a microwave for a few seconds. They become juicier and can be easily squeezed.
  7. Do you need quick hot compresses and can’t wait for water to boil? Just warm a wet towel on a high temperature and a comfortable compress is ready for you.
  8. Did you know that your microwave could help you prepare soil for your seedlings to grow? You can sterilize the soil in a microwave to make it favorable for seedlings.
  9. Are onions making you shed too many tears? Next time you chop them, cut off the edges and heat them in the microwave for some seconds, and you can chop them up without any irritation or hurt to your eyes!
  10. If you are doing a fun crafts project with your kids, and are in urgent need of some crayons, we’ll give you one easy tip.
