Here there is a lot that will hate old fans.

Raccoon City

Remember the Raccoon City segment from the demo, which was pretty funny, quite great and she wondered what was still in the remake of them? It turned out that this was the part of Raccoon City, and most of it anyway. Compare this as the city in the original felt and she just feels too small, especially considering how much of it is traced. But Hey, at least this is the only place where the interactions with Nemesis are dynamically feeling. That counts for … something.

Reused assets of Resident Evil 2 (2019)

But do not worry, the wastewater channels and the Labor of Resident Evil 2 Remakes are here. And they are not really that differently, except for some new enemies. It could forgave them to think that it is essentially about reused assets because it is essentially about reused assets. Granted, the encounter with the revised Hunter gamma in the sewers is pretty cool, but we would have preferred if the more unique places of the original were brought over instead.

No live selection

One of the more interesting features of the original game was Live Selection in which the player has been asked to make certain decisions in different situations. Would you illuminate Nemesis in the bell tower or remove the string to cause electric shock? Such decisions are missing in remake. It is a shame because it could be easily used to have alternative routes, different consequences, etc. to promote the repeat value and some variations, even if the changes were not as massive as the live selection of the original.

No bell tower

The most daunting among the sliced content may be that the bell tower has disappeared. This is a shame, because the level was in the original a frightening experience with huge creepy spiders anywhere. There were some interesting puzzles and encounters with the Nemesis — including a boss fight with its second form — together with some nice traditions. That’s all in the remake disappeared and the bell tower serves as a background backdrop for a fight with Nemesis.

No giant spiders

Would it have been so difficult in this sense to bring over the giant spiders? They encounter the drain of Deimos, which are essentially about fleas, which infected with the T virus and transformed into disgusting creatures. Of course, the entire section of the power plant is entertaining, but we miss the spiders.

No raccoon park

Back to cutting content — there is no raccoon park. No place that knows around Hunter betas. No Hunter gamma jumping out of the water when entering. None of them. It’s all gone and removes one of the more unique places where important areas such as the cemetery were also. Speaking of …

No cemetery

While zombies, which may literally rise from graves, as clichés appear, Resident Evil 3 had a good turn, as the undead had previously victims of T viruses that had fallen into the coma. This led her to held dead and then buried to come back here. In the cemetery was also the graves, a huge worm, which buried under the earth and served as a boss fight and could be killed by a electric shock. In the remake, however, everything has disappeared for reasons.

Heavy lack of puzzles

Another thing that made when playing the remakes was, how little puzzles there is. There is only one handful throughout the experience and most are very unforgettable. Compare this with the last year’s Resident Evil 2 remake, which is consistently full of puzzles. You can argue that this is an action-oriented experience, but if the original PS one version contains more mystery than your remake and still is quite actionable, there is a problem.

Nemesis is not busy

Nemesis is the ultimate ass. He is almost not to kill, can jump with incredible speed from Jill and land to infect zombies and transform them into an undead with tentacle head, lead a huge flamethrower, hang on walls to build upstairs … The list is easy. And yet he is pretty little busy. Most of his dynamic appearances are in the first hour or so, then you barely meet him. Compared to the original, he feels less than omnipresent threat, although he is so much more capable.

Nemesis sections are usually provided with scripts

Do not make a mistake — the boss fights with Nemesis are pretty good, no matter if it’s not to be cooked by his flamethrower alive, against his four-legged, wildlife second shape or against the last encounter. But this is in addition to many other sections with scripts that are only an average, if not invented, as avoiding the missiles that nemesis fires on them by running … some streets running along, while it is comfortable to align shots. We probably would not be so hard if his dynamic appearances were not so severely restricted.

No barry end

The remake also contains several endings, including one, at the Barry Burton of Resident Evil 1 Jill and Carlos seems to help. It is one thing to remove the choices for the live selection and only have one end. So why not the end that feels best? Given the fact that very barry Jill has helped in the first game — and how iconic it is for the franchise in general — it is strange that this end is easily omitted.

No ink tapes with higher difficulties

Unlike the original, there are no ink tapes in the higher level of difficulty of remakes. What is strange, considering that they have always been a staple of the series. What is stranger is that even Resident Evil 2 Remake had them on hardcore level of difficulty.

From the point of view of the gameplay this is frustrating for those looking for a challenge. Admitted, higher difficulties like Nightmare and Inferno typewriters have further apart from each other, but the total absence of ink tapes is confusing.

No mercenary mode

Given the fact how much out of the game has been cut out, it may be on the most shocking to hear that the mercenary mode is not here either. It is still more disappointing since the mode in the original PS One version took its start and chooses between three different UBCS characters — Carlos, Nikolai or Mikhail — if you run from one place to the next race.

You only have two minutes time, but you can win more time by killing zombies and help survivors (which also provide some items). Nemesis is here too, offers an additional challenge and could even be killed for extra time. Even if Capcom would not have expanded the original concept too much, it would nevertheless have been great if this would have been returned with the liquid gunplay and the higher production values and made playable. But unfortunately it was not.

Gore was weakened

This does not mean that the Resident Evil 3 remake is not a bloody game, but compared to the Resident Evil 2-Remake it was prisoned. There are fewer blood spells, there are no cloth puppet physics, they can not halve a zombie, body parts disappear and body injuries are noticeably less pronounced. Although hardware restrictions can be the reason, it is strange to perform such downgrades of Resident Evil 2 remake.
