Great insight into the problems associated with a felony conviction. It is actually a life sentence of low paying jobs, crappy places to live, with not much chance of working ones way out. My person is mentally ill (BPD) with a few run-ins with the law, and his life is forever going to be a struggle. If this system spent as much money on mental health care as it does for prison, the incarceration rate would be markedly lower.
