A New start! Nov 11, 2015
Today is my 23rd birthday! Time gone too fast… BTW, I am going to start my blog for ‘Professional Framework 1’, I need to try my best in time management because I don’t want to be a deadline fighter..
This is my second year in the UK, I finished an Art and design foundation year last year and I’m now in BA photography year 1.
In this morning I am in a class of ‘Professional Framework 1’ with Anna. We looked at some advises which give to young photographer from 5 photographer. There is one sentence I like most from Alex Soth, he said:
“Try everything. Photojournalism, fashion, portraiture, nudes, whatever. You won’t know what kind of photographer you are until you try it…. You should like the process and the subject. If you are bored or unhappy with your subject it will show up in the pictures.”
In high school, I was vice-chairman of the photography club, responsible for recording all the school’s social events for the yearbook and website. Since leaving school, I have continued to pursue photography as a hobby.
Before I decided to come and start my university life, I am graduated with a Hotel and Catering High Diploma in Hong Kong. I have work experiences in a cafe as a waitress and also a logistic operator in a global logistics company. But I am not happy with those job, I can’t see my future; i want to do something that I enjoy in my everyday life.
We only live once and I want to live without regret.
After careful consideration of my options, I have decided to pursue a career as a professional photographer. I love photography and I hope I will build a successful career on it. In the course, we will have a lot of opportunities to try different things and in the process we will know what we want to do and continue after we graduated. Like what Alex Soth said, try everything until we know what kind of photographer we are. I am glad that I have got this opportunities to find my dream in the university in the next 2 years. ( Thanks to my parents for their understanding and support ) I will work my best and enjoy every moments as a uni student in the UK.
