Research On Documentary Photographer -Krisztina Felix
Krisztina Felix is a photographer from Hungary. Her has works also posted on Getty images. I found one of her image from the website that introduce elderly photography, the title is ‘Capturing Wisdom: 100 Photos of the Older Generation’. The intimate feeling deliver from her image below captured my attention from the other 99 images.

I found her Flickr, there is a album called ‘Mama’and only have 5 images in it.

I can’t find any background information of this series of work. Although there were some comments below the album, but 99% of it were in Hungarian, I found one reply from Krisztina Felix in English and she said: ‘ Peter you found the perfect pic to your wish, my grandmother was 90 a month ago, so I send your health wish to her and keep romantic moments to myself.’ Therefore, I guest this album was a documentary of her grandmother.

Although it only contains very less amount of images, each photo carries very strong scene of feeling. I like the three images below.

Three of the images were shown in similar color tone (a bit of greenish and yellowish), it presents a sense of nostalgia. About the composition, two of it used center the subject and one used rule of third. From the previous post ‘Tips For Photographing Elderly’, one of the tips is ‘Surroundings Are Important’. We can see that each image contained from above has included the surroundings and also captured the details of her grandma.
The vintage tablecloth, the glass, the cup and the spoon shown part of her daily life and her living environment. Not just only have some closer shoot of her body’s parts, Krisztina Felix decided to include the surrounding environment around her grandmother to present a stronger visual impact and the intimate between them. Besides, her image frozen the moment; when I look at it, it makes me feel like I’m at the scene and the same space with her.
The contract in her images were very obvious; it adds dimension to make a photo more engaging and also help the viewer interact with it. Her works has inspired me to do some special colour adjustment with my images. Different colour tone will change the presentation completely. Therefore, I should be careful when I am making the decision during the image enhancement process.
