Narrative Codes


Hermeneutic Codes: Hermeneutic codes refers to mystery within a text. Clues are dropped, but no clear answers are given. Enigmas within the narrative tend to frustrate the audience and ake want to know more.

Proairetic Codes: Contains sequential elements of action in the text.

Semantic Codes: Refers to parts within the text that suggest or refere to additional meanings. It has a connotative function in the text and has an extra layer of meaning in addition to its literal meaning

Symbolic Codes: This code is about symbolism with deeper structural within the text . It exercises opposites to show contrast and create greater meaning, creating tension, drama, and character development.

Indexical Signs: These signs point to a specific meaning.

Narrative Arc: This is a storytelling progression which starts with an exposition, then an inciting Incident, followed by rising action, crisis (the highest peak of tension), climax, then through falling action to finally a resolution.
