You have been your mother’s student for decades. You have learned so much from her, directly and indirectly, explicitly and implicitly, by her telling you and by her modeling. She handed you values and beliefs about bodies, food, work, career, religion, sexuality, gender, men, women, people who are different than you, marriage, money, friendship, etc.

You learned what is good and what is bad, what is right and what is wrong, what is acceptable and what is unacceptable. In some cases you took what she handed you without thought or question. In others? Not so much. Maybe you rejected outright what she handed to you.

Let’s take it deeper and make it conscious.
