Part 6: Initial Boston Police Incident Report for the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Theft Released

Boston Police Incident Report dated 3/18/1990. Released by BPD Feb. 28, 2024 because of FOIA request.

Exclusive! New information disclosed by the Boston Police about the Gardner Heist. The Incident Report from the theft at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum was released by the Boston Police Department through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. The report, with some redactions, lists the crime as Breaking and Entering N/T. The museum, incorrectly identified as the Elizabeth Gardner Museum, at 280 the Fenway, with responding officers being Trent Holland and Robin DeMarco. The report details: “About 8:16 A.M. P.O.’s Holland and DeMarco in the BK. . . responded to a R/C at the above . . . for a B &E in progress along with B2. . . Hearns and Rice B1. . . Watch Officer the B1. . . Owen & Hy. . . and the B4 Flaherty. On arrival officers spoke to the above”redacted “and at such time ascertained that there had been a break. At such time the crime scene was secured. B9. . . Sgt Callity B98. . . Sgt. Crosseri along with Area B2 Detectives B8. . . McCarthy & Washington responded and took control of scene and made further notification to FBI and Museum Personnel. Two security guards on duty were found in basement. To be further investigated by Area B Detectives and FBI.”

One of the responding officers, Trent Holland, was also involved in the Charles Stuart case.
