To understand this story you have to understand my mother Rosanna Hart (née Flaherty).
She was one of the smartest people I have ever met. She skipped a grade in elementary school and graduated high school at 16. While she loved her family and her father, he was an alcoholic who did not sober up until the last years of his life, when he was nearly incapacitated by a stroke. She did not go to college and entered into the workforce, working at Hendries and then at Procter and Gamble as a secretary. She left when she married my dad and then had three kids. In the 80’s she went back to work briefly for the IRS but it was too stressful for her. She worked as a temporary employee sometimes. A work colleague at one of her jobs was fired and committed suicide. My mom was deeply saddened by this, and carried guilt about that for the rest of her life. I think that is why she felt so strongly that she needed to help Anne Hawley.
