Since the American elites have decided that their big priority is keeping the insurance industry’s nest well-feathered, any plan that ensures coverage at any price most people can afford is going to be pretty complex. The parts work together; you can’t just pick and choose which features are the most popular and expect them to work in isolation.

So far all the Republicans have come up with as “replacement” is some lame bleating about things like “tort reform” and letting junk insurance be sold across state lines (presumably that means taking the state insurance commissioners out of the loop, since insurance is already sold across state lines). They have had eight years to come up with a reasonable alternative, and produced zip. Why? Because Obamacare was their plan, which they abandoned out of spite for Obama. This is what happens when the majority has no interest in actually governing, but only wants to blow up the system.
