Things You Need to Do When Visiting Iquique in Chile

Iquique is a South American city located in the north of Chile. If you want sun, party, and lawless fun, Iquique is your kind of town. However, as much as I love it, fun is not the only lawless thing there, so be careful when visiting that beautiful place.

Here are a few recommendations for those who want to enjoy the particular culture of this northern desertic city surrounded by ocean and dry mountains.

1. Be Careful with Your Belongings. As anticlimactic as this first recommendation is, I need to mention it and emphasize it. Iquique is a beautiful city, but it has become less and less safe over the years, so be mindful of your surroundings. Try to keep your valuables hidden when walking down crowded streets, especially the downtown. If you do not want to learn what a lanzazo is, please avoid answering your cell phone while on the street.
2. Carry Cash for Small Purchases. Many small businesses and grocery markets might not take credit cards, so be prepared to pay cash.
