My 2 young children absolutely love books, they listen carefully to every word (and will most definitely correct you if you skip a few sentences to save time), scrutinise the pictures & can often be found in a corner sitting quietly with a pile of books in their lap.

My friend’s daugther is totally the opposite and won’t ever touch a book voluntarily. So my friend asked: How did you do it? And I honestly had no idea what to tell her.

Then I read this research on ways to teach your children to love books & ready. And on top of the list: Make sure your kids see you read. Read while they are in the same room. Books, magazines, newspapers etc.

Ha! It never ocurred to me that leading by example indeed never stops, another lesson learned…
