A Patchwork Quilt

We are all a small part

Of a great patchwork quilt,

Made of love, joy and pain

But on hope we are built.

Our threads may seem connected

And are sometimes intertwined,

Yet we fail to recognize this

And try to run in our own lines.

Joy and happiness are woven

Using yellow-orange threads,

Hopes and dreams find their way in

Through skeins of purples and reds

A little hint of grey

Creates the edge and the lining

These shades represent sadness

Which leave us upset and pining

Memories, learnings, tales from our ancestors

Form the greens and the blues

Our experiences are woven using rainbow threads,

They mould our lives with their varied hues

Very often we forget the magic of the quilt,

That this was meant to be our form,

We are not divided, we are simply one

For a patchwork quilt is meant to keep you warm.
