Building an app is hard. There are a lot of things to do, and it’s easy to miss things—or just not get to all of the issues you know exist—because you’re slammed. (The app I’m working on has gaps all over the place. Some of these are big issues.)
Have you considered reaching out to the creators of this app and letting them know how you feel? I suspect they’d likely be open to your feedback, and perhaps add that option.
I get that this isn’t really the crux of your argument in this post. Rather, it’s that diversity in their organization could have led to a more inclusive design solution. That said, you’re making an example of them. Wouldn’t it be fair to talk to them before doing so?
