Newspapers fail so often with language, accuracy, and context, that I find my expectations are terribly low. I’ve never confronted an editor about an issue like this, because I don’t have an expectation that they would react well. While an individual story writer might be a bit more likely to fix an error, or to correct phrasing, it seems that the response from Seattle Times is indicative of a greater culture problem in corporatized journalism. I wonder if there’s a better course forward for building a dialogue with the press?
