Building to Independence on Top of Other Platforms

Josh, thanks for this. As a business that is experiencing significant growth on the backs of platforms like Facebook and Twitter, we at FanBread are eyes wide open to the fact that algorithmic changes could impact our business (every publisher’s business, for that matter). Fortunately, the core value we’re providing to our customers and the pain point we’re solving for is content creation. It’s hard and expensive to create quality original content at scale.

Today Facebook and Twitter are the big gorilla traffic drivers to many content sites (Business Insider, Buzzfeed, Slate, Salon, Mic, etc) so for now we’re focusing our efforts on these platforms. We’re able to sleep at night knowing that in an age of distributed media, the need for content remains universal regardless of what the platform du jour is.

Look forward to discussing in person in the coming weeks.

Best, Karl
