Just two weeks and the excitement that comes with working on my final project for the fulltime UX/UI design bootcamp at Ironhack: A deadline and a motivation.

We had to detect a problem and come up with a fully formed solution in that span of time, nice right?

It´s safe to say I reached peak time-management skills 🤯

Let me give you a bit of context, if you will, regarding what got my head ticking while searching for that problem to fix.

In the last 6 years, the use of the cellphone has increased to be three times what it was. How we meet and interact with other people is switching to social media and as a consequence, we see each other less and less.

A study shows that in the next 40 years we are gonna spend:

Seeing this, a question pops up immediately: How much time do we have left to spend with our loved ones?

Let me keep it brief and simple: If you live in different cities, you´d probably have less than 90 days left, I checked. (#drama)

Case and point: That friend that lives abroad, which you keep texting that you are gonna meet again but you never do, and you suddenly realize it´s been 5 years since you last saw each other? yep🤦🏼‍♀️

As a wise woman once said, traveling feeds the body and the soul, so why not take advantage of it to fix this and start seeing each other more?

If we take a look at the insights gotten out of the research that was conducted:

We see that there is a high percentage of people that are used to traveling with friends, family or significant others. Great quality time, amazing memories and experiences to treasure.

There are a lot of websites that help you through the planning and reservation of these trips, but as platforms like Skyscanner, they usually have more info than what you actually need and can make the booking experience a coordination nightmare.

We plan and we plan, but we rarely go on those trips we talk about so much.

This is why NOMADS is born, it aims to break with all of this and make our lives easier by making coordinating group trips easy, so we can spend more time with our loved ones.

How do we pretend to do this? Simple

Home page — Explore
  1. Save time: The endless hours comparing different flights and checking for availability are over.

The home page makes the process much simpler, just the amount of info you need, and flights that you can actually go to, according to your calendar.

You can choose any of the suggested routes, filter them regarding your preferences or search for a specific destination.

2. Never miss an opportunity:

Even if you are not actively looking for a trip, you’ll be always informed of the best routes and offers for you and your groups.

The app will let you know when a new offer matches your calendar and your group’s, so you never miss an opportunity of planing a nice escapade with the ones you love.

3. Not being able to coordinate is not an excuse anymore:

  • Create your travel group
  • Sync up your availability in the common calendar
  • Check the tags that fit your traveling style the most
  • Let the app do its magic.

Nomads will only show you the trips that match all of you, specifically catered to availability and preferences.

The app works as a metasearch engine; we filter flights, bus tickets, train tickets and so on, in order to find the best deals that match your requirements.

The main goal during these two weeks was no other than the one to create a solution that would adapt to the user, and not the other way around. All the design decisions were taken to make the customer’s journey as friendly as possible, even when they were not actively using the app.

Liked what you just read? If you wanna know more about the process that went into creating this, I´m always open to talk design and discuss ideas over a nice cup of chai latte, so just hit me up. ☕️

P.S (You can check how much time you have left with the people you care about too: ruavieja marketing campaign)
