Peachy Swell — The surfing game is about to change | Ironhack UX/UI Design project
Picture this: You arrive at the beach in a hurry, eager to catch some waves and get your surfing on, but when you do, the swell is almost flat and you are carrying a shortboard. Not the best board to compete for waves with the longboarders that are currently surfing if you ask me.
That sucks right? It does, and it happens almost too often, even more, if you are looking to surf while traveling in spots that you don’t really know or you can’t find your way around understanding websites like windguru.
An this is why PEACHY SWELL is born.
Peachy Swell is the app for the surfers and sea lovers. The perfect companion to improve your surfing quality and sessions trough forecast simplification and time-saving.
How do we achieve this you might ask? Easy.
1. Full customization:
Set your preferences through the onboarding, and all the info displayed in the app will be catered to those specific settings.
Set your level, your ideal surfing conditions (wave size/weather/ period) and your local spot.
We’ll take care of the rest.
2. Session alerts:
You’ll never be late for a session again, thanks to the personalized alarms and notifications. Set the time for when you’d be willing to wake up for a morning surf and let us program your alarms.
The best part about this? You won’t need to check the forecast every single minute of the day, we’ll let you know when the waves are ideal for you so you can make it on time for that blissful surfing session.
3. Simplified forecasts:
Say goodbye to unreadable websites full of numbers, Peachy Swell makes it easy for you. You’ll get a clear image of how the swell is gonna be pumping with the right info.
The aim of the app is to help you get the best out of your surfing and making the search for the perfect wave easier.
It has different features that will help you understand without complication.
Don’t really know how the wind affects the beach your surfing on? Just check if the wind direction arrow is green, if so, off you go.
We’ll let you know what kind of board and suit to wear depending on the forecast, so you always get the most appropriate gear to get the best out of your session.
The general forecast view will show you the best spots for you to surf on, prioritizing the different options depending on proximity and your level.
4. All you need to improve:
Your surfing performance has not only to do with what you do in the water but also how you train yourself outside of it too.
Learn which are the best exercises to get the best out of your potential, get tips and tricks to improve your technique and take your surfing game to the next level.
Challenge your friends and set your own goals while tracking progress.
Our business model:
Peachy Swell works as a freemium app, it works by subscription. You’ll be able to download the app free of charge and access several features, but if you want to get illimited “ideal forecast” notifications and alerts or check the entire forecast info of the week, for example, you’ll have to subscribe to the premium version of the product.

Next steps:
Our aim is to develop an MVP and launch it to the market by the summer of 2020. In order to make this happen, we are looking to incorporate a full-stack developer into our team and we are also actively looking for funding.
