I think you’re on to something here. All too often “consistency” is intepreted as a directive towards “correlation.” I’ve always found it far more useful to use that step to ensure that your design is consistent with itself. It reminds me a lot of the differences between tuning an instrument to a recording vs. those of the other musicians you’re playing with.
