IA#5: Reflections on The Monuments Men

For me art before wasn’t that imnportant. It’s just art, what can art do for me, what can it contribute in our country. That was art for me then, but when we watched the movie “The Monuments Men” the movie showed me the value of art in a country. How art can say a lot of things about a country’s history. How people live their lives during the past. The movie made me realize how important art is to the monuments men, that they sacrificed their lives just to protect art. Art is not just an art, it is more if you learn to open your eyes and appreciate the beauty of it.
2. Write a critical analysis of the film itself (narrative, production, directing, cinematography, acting, etc.)
The characters we’re very amazing. Their acting was incredible. The sound effects were also amazing. The directing of the movie was also amazing. The cinematography was also amazing. Everything about the movie was amazing. Isn’t it?
3. If the Philippines had a set of “Monuments Men” during the World War 2, what could have happened differently? Is there a need for us to have a “Monuments Men” in the Armed Forces today? Please discuss.
The Philippines also valued art during the World War 2. They were a lot of painters during the WW2. If they would have a set of “Monuments Men” during that time they would have saved a lot of art works of many artists. For me our country needs a “Monuments Men” because of the threats that the is receiving. So President Duterte please make a “Monuments Men” for our country.
