Only The Rich Are Poisoned: The Preference of Others

The Desire for Exclusivity

I liked this.

Have you ever seen the film Sour Grapes? It was a documentary that came to Netflix recently and dealt with the scamming of the wine community by a con-artist. The thing that stood out (other than the complicity of the auction houses) was the credulity of the rich elite and the ease with which they were fooled. Yes, they were marked by pride, arrogance and naivete, but the thing which made them most ripe for the taking was their desire for exclusivity. That’s something that’s hardwired into a lot of humans, but the rich tend to fall prey to it’s worst excesses because they have greater means to indulge it.
