Working From Home is Never Worth It

Nice perspective.

Some like working at an office, others prefer to work at home it seems.

We used to have a 5,000 sqft office, one day 10 years ago, sitting around the conf table, someone asked “Why are we here, our customers are all over the world, they don’t want to hear about timezones, and a lot of the premium time is early morning, evenings?”

We have never looked back and no complaints from any of the staff — they hated the morning commutes, they hated leaving the office late.

We talk via Skype as if we are all in the same room, we exchange files. We hold meetings with customers using GoToMeeting. Once in a while we have a meeting in one of our “mobile” offices (e.g. Starbucks).

I like 1 hour alarms that invite me to stand up and move around. I am about read to order one of these standup desks.

I don’t get too many unwanted guests at my front door (the german shepherd is our doorman).

If you don’t have a dog, I suppose you could try a “Go Away” doormat.

One clap, two clap, three clap, forty?

By clapping more or less, you can signal to us which stories really stand out.
