No problem and thanks for reading and replying!
I’m with you on there being space for innovation in digital music, and SoundCloud was at one point the most differentiated and the most interesting online music destination. Unfortunately, the team screwed it up from a product execution perspective and strategically. They were unable to translate the websites success onto mobile, they started mimicking other music services in terms of mobile product and the business model. They forgot about DJs, small creators and the valuable community and became desperate to appease labels and catchup to the deals their competitors cut years before. They lost any leverage due to their own failings on the content licensing piece. Whether by initial intent or not, the result is still piracy and slowness to act that is one key driver for the resulting decline in SC.
