Ribosome OP-ED

Listen up organelles! We ribosomes work ALL day synthesizing proteins and basically maintain the whole cell. It’s about time we get the respect and credibility that we deserve! We are the hardest working organelle in the entire cell despite what others may believe. Unlike other organelles — the nucleus- we are present in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Synthesizing proteins is the most important job in the cell. The proteins that we make aid in structure of the entire cell, are used for cellular movement, they serve as enzymatic catalysts, and as a storage molecule among many other functions. While we are hard at work that lazy nucleus just bosses us around and doesn’t even want to give us the DNA codes to make proteins. At least we have helpful mRNA that always bring us the genetic information. We also know how to work together. We work with the help of the mRNA to arrange amino acids in a specific pattern to form proteins! Isn’t it just amazing how much we can do? We may not be the prettiest organelle but we always work hardest and get the job done! What’s so great about being the main brain of the cell? They cant even transmit your genetic code without help from mRNA. And at least we don’t need a nuclear envelope to protect us. Without getting further in depth on how we are far superior ribosomes are to the nucleus just remember, we, the ribosomes are the most important organelle, we work the hardest, and ensure that the cell works smoothly.
