Totally agree. Maybe I can’t match my short 3 years of experience in the design industry with advertising but I personally prefer to overlook and see every step of design process. I’m willing to go meet the clients even though I don’t have to because my colleagues do that. I’m also willing to design, engineer and communicate all the process with the client even though my managers and sales do that. I’m willing to fly abroad to see the tooling being built and see the samples produced myself, even though engineers can do that locally. I’d rather spend myself making sure everything is as planned and the way I wanted rather than sit behind the desk chasing up everyone with emails. However, these days most of the businesses operate this way - over distance, through emails, filtered through dozens of layers of management. In the end everyone wants to chip in their 2 cents.
