And, in response, savvy sellers have started offering attractive digital downloads for both iPhone and Android — typically in sets with multiple designs.

So far, though, there’s a limited range of available designs and usually only for the lock screen. Flowy abstract patterns. Florals and botanicals. Skyscapes. Moonscapes. Muted neutral monotones. Festive seasonal imagery. You get the idea.

That means the sky’s the limit with this niche. You have endless to create your own unique designs. You can offer tried-and-true imagery — such as boho abstracts — or you can try something totally new. You can even use your own artwork or photography.

Cons: Creating mazes and other puzzles can be challenging. Intricate designs or layouts may take a good bit of time to figure out.

The pandemic kicked off a boom of remote workers that has never dwindled. In fact, it has continued to grow with those who are employed by traditional companies and those seeking to work from home in their own businesses.

Did you know that Zoom’s stock went up 367% by Dec. 2020 thanks to all the remote workers? True fact according to NASDAQ.

With all those online meetings comes an overwhelming need for virtual backgrounds. Why? Because those working from home don’t want to have to make sure their office (or other room) is clean before having a meeting. They also don’t want to use a boring blurred background if they are speaking professionally at an online or in-person conference, etc.

Pros and Cons of Virtual Backgrounds

Pro: All these years after the pandemic, people are willing to pay for virtual backgrounds even though there are lots of them available for free.

Why would they do that?

• Free download sites are infamous for spreading viruses and other sinister stuff

Plus, Zoom backgrounds are:

Con: Most of the ones you’ll find online are the same bookshelf or other backdrop, so you’ll have to find other (more creative) ones to create and sell so you stand out. Although, that’s really not a con when you have someone to show you specifically which Zoom backgrounds to create and how to do them.

Coloring Books for Adults

I have to admit that, when I first saw this, I honestly did not see how it could be as popular as it is. But taking a look on Amazon, or Etsy will give you a very good indication of how many people are into this subniche.

If you think about how many people just in America who have tattoos, the popularity of these coloring books for adults makes sense.

Pros: While looking at some of the designs might make you think these would be difficult and time-consuming to create, they really are not. Especially, if you have a pro to guide your steps.

Plus, you can sell them on Etsy or your sites as PDF downloads, or as paperbacks/hardbacks on Amazon KDP through their print-on-demand platform. That gives you multiple ways to earn!

Cons: If you sell on Amazon, you’ll have to have KDP interiors and book covers. Depending on your design skillset, that might be a problem. Plus, once you’ve completed your books, you’ll have to market them (get them found on Amazon or Etsy) so people will buy.
