A (Partial) Visual Nomenclature of Lego
Inspired by Werner’s Nomenclature of Colours
First: A visual breakdown of the data set by general color-grouping
Then, to further break down these categories, using a RGB-code translator I identified the colors that were the components of each non-neutral color grouping
From there, the largest set of colors (the blues) were broken down into the individual pieces: RGB color, Lego name, and component parts as modeled by Werner’s Full Spectrum chart.
Dataset on Rebrickable (a site that shows you which Lego sets you can build from the sets and pieces you already own). This data contains information on the color, number, and type of pieces in each Lego set for the past 67 years. I used Microsoft Excel and Adobe Illustrator.
