Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7e get Nougat!
So a couple months back I joined the galaxy beta for the android n update on Samsung’s flagship devices, there were a tonne of UI updates that were intriguing and extremely innovative. Now samsung have started rolling out nougat to phones not on beta! In this article I will be describing my favourite new features!
To start off, my favourite feature is the screen resolution, initially when I first downloaded beta, I noticed that the screen resolution seemed a bit off. I know what you are thinking, why is this a good thing? Well let me tell you, that the screen resolution looked off because the phone has a qhd screen(2k display) and the resolution was set to 1080p. This was a brand new feature introduced by samsung. There were different resolutions that u could set it to, qhd, fhd, hd. Now you may be wondering why this is so useful? Well to start off, with a lower resolution, the phone did not have to compute as much as it usually would, the lower quality meant that it could render the same stuff but at lower quality, meaning that it would use up less battery. Samsung released an app, called game tuner which would allow you to reduce the screen resolution down to 480p, but this was only in game!
My next favourite feature is the fact that there is now different performance modes, meaning that you can set it to high performance, normal, game and entertainment modes. Each modes have specific settings that changes the resolution and the brightness and even sometimes the amount that the cpu works, as a result the phone can be put into superdrive when needed, and put into optimised mode when there is little battery. The game mode also gives you access to the game launcher and the game tools.
My last favourite feature is the night mode, the night mode is a mide for the phone that can be accessed through the settings or the notification panel, that turns the phone screen yellowish… again, probably wondering why it would be useful? Well blue light is released from the phone screen to make whites look whiter, but the release of this blue light causes an increase in the hormones that are associated with being awake. As a result, reducing the amount of blue light released will make you feel less awake, which means that you can use your phone at night without being distraught by the blue light!
Those were my favourite features of the new update, there are many more, that have been included, with a lot of UI updates, which changes the phone a lot! Overall the new update is amazing, and we all can’t wait for what samsung has in store for the galaxy s8!
