Learn 1–100 in German in 10 minutes
First we will learn numbers from Zero(0) to Twelve(12), once you get familiarized with 0 to 12, all others numbers (13 to 99) can be formed using them.
0 — zero or null
1 — ein
2 — zwei
3 — drei
4 — vier
5 — funf
6 — sechs
7 — sieben
8 — acht
9 — neun
10 — zehn
11 — elf
12 — zwolf
Now we will learn from 13 to 19.
Just put the German representation of last digit first and append Zehn (10) to it.
For Example: the number 13 can be represented as Dreizehn. Now try to form numbers 13 to 19 using the above mentioned way.
Now let’s learn numbers that are multiples of 10.
You might be familiar with the representation of number 10 (zehn), except 10, numbers from 20 to 90 have same pattern.
Append zig to the German representation of numbers 2 to 9
The number 20 is represented as Zwanzig(there is slight difference, instead of Zwei(2), it is Zwan), the number 30 is represented as Dreizig
The number 100 is represented as Einhundert.
Now try to form numbers 40 to 90 using the above mentioned way.
Now let’s learn the remaining numbers.
Note: German for the word ‘and’ is ‘und’.
How to write the number 21?
Write the German representation of right most digit, that is Ein(1) then append ‘und’ then append representation for 20 (zwanzig), so Twentyone(21) is written as Einundzwanzig (Ein-und-zwan-zig).
Let us take another number 58, the representation for right most digit is acht(8), then append ‘und’ then append representation of 50(funfzig), so Fiftyeight is written as achtundfunfzig (acht-und-funf-zig).
Now try to form all the remaining numbers using the above mentioned way.
Hope you learnt how to count from 1 to 100 in German.
Thanks for reading.
