Senior Management Development Programme (SMDP) for small and medium enterprises of Malaysia.

Karunya University Business School in Association with IMS Asia, with the support of Human Resource Development Fund an Agency of Ministry of Human Resource, Malaysia, organised a Senior Management Development Programme for Malaysian Entrepreneurs belonging to SME’s from 25th July to 29th July 2016 at Coimbatore. The delegation consisted of top Businessmen and Women from Piping Products, Clothing, Furniture, Health products, Skincare, Food and Pharmaceutical Industry.

The Programme was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. M.J. Xavier, Vice Chancellor of Karunya University, and in his presidential address he stressed the importance of continuous upgradation of ones’ skills to compete and be competitive, topped up with appropriate technology. He highlighted the Indo Malaysian business scenario in the backdrop of Make in India and Start — up India and explained the strategies to be adopted to succeed. Mr. V. Krishnakumar, Vice –President, SIEMA in his keynote address insisted on quality manpower and consistent systems in enterprises to meet Global Challenges. Dr. Joseph Kennady, Registrar Karunya University felicitated the gathering and wished everyone a great experience through the programme.

This five-day long program was designed, developed and delivered by Karunya University Business School, for the business leaders of SME’s with global touch, and highly portable practices on various functional domains of a business in the SME context. As part of the programme the participants interacted with the officials of SIEMA, CODDISSIA, and Chamber of Commerce. They also visited the Testing & Quality control lab of Si’Tarc, CoIndia tool room and, CODISSIA Fair grounds and Roots Industries.

In the Valedictory function held on 29.07.2016, the Chief Guest, Hon. Ahmad Fajarazam Bin Abdul Jalil, Consul General, Consulate of Malaysia, expressed his happiness on bilateral relationships between India and Malaysia and wished much more programmes can be conducted through exchange of core competencies of both countries. Mr.N.Siva, Director, IMS Asia told that this SMDP was an initiative of Government of Malaysia through Human Resource Development Fund, and was proud to be associated with Karunya University in this project and recorded is pleasure in the connectivity obtained through this bilateral program and wished for long-lasting bond between Karunya and IMS, Asia The representative of the participants, Mr. Datto, expressed his gratitude for the hospitality extended and appreciated the quality standards of Coimbatore based Engineering industries. Dr. J. Clement Sudhakar, Professor & Head, Dept of Business, Karunya University welcomed the gathering and Dr. C. Samuel Joseph, Professor and Convener of this SMDP presented the summary report on the outcome of the Programme.
