Very well written again. Some more insight for thought … I am a first responder, and I began my career many years ago as a uniformed security officer. I can’t tell you how many times during that time I encountered parents with young children who would point me out, and say something like “See that officer? They’re gonna get you and arrest you if you’re bad!!”

That would break my heart. When possible, I would stop and talk to them, face to face with the child, and introduce myself to them. I would tell them my name, that I’m not scary, and that if they ever needed help, that I, or another officer, would be there for them.
