Does anyone else find themselves saying “Ughhhh” in frustration when you’re about to check out from an online store and get stuck entering your credit card information over and over again because one number was off or it turns out the store doesn’t accept the card you’re using? Do you then question if this is a sign from above to save your money and abandon the cart all together?

When entering all of your shipping information on a mobile device, sometimes our thumbs go rogue making putting the correct information impossible. We aren’t alone in this struggle considering the average cart abandonment rate across all industries is 68.57%. Below is a look at the average online cart abandonment rates by industry.

Wouldn’t it be a dream for your name, address, and payment information to be readily available at the tap of a screen leaving you to simply wait for the package to arrive at your doorstep? Thanks to the Shop App, your online shopping dreams can come true.

The Shop App Goes Beyond Checking Out

The Shop App, an update and rebrand of Arrive, from Shopify is a digital shopping assistant that makes it easy for customers to speed through checkout, track their order and shipment details, and rediscover brands they love. Through in-app recommendations that circle customers back to your store, the Shops tab within the app acts as a personalized shopping feed that populates with product picks, special deals, and new arrivals based on their purchase history and the brands they follow on Shop.

With one of the most common and sought out online conversions being purchases and the average e-commerce conversion rate being 2%, it’s clear this is a pain point for brands of all industries. With this in mind, it’s very impressive that Shopify has seen conversion rates improve by up to 18% for returning customers after a business enabled Shop Pay for their online store.

I can attest that the Shop app truly helps drive conversions because when the Shop app is an option at checkout, I feel a sense of relief knowing I’m just one tap (or click) away from completing my purchase. All I need to do is enter a verification code sent to my iPhone, review my cart, insert a promo code if I have one, and purchase. Not only is it great for completing the purchase, but it’s also great for tracking.

Say I decided to treat myself for a week and bought a few new things from different online stores. Instead of digging through my millions of emails searching for tracking numbers, if the online store has the Shop app implemented all of my orders will be in one place easy for me to track with update notifications.

Notifications That Drive Results

While I rarely allow apps to give me notifications, what I commend the Shop app for is not being spammy. I actually look forward to my notifications from the app and hearing the little “cha ching!” when my order has been completed or for a recommendation. Shopify has proven that there are many other consumers like me who are also fond of their notifications, being they bring customers back into the app leading to customers who track with Shop being 11% more likely to repurchase within 30 days of their last purchase.

The customer journey when using the Shop App.

While I haven’t used the app to find new products yet, I scrolled through the shop tab following my research and plan on making more of a point to see their recommendations for me finding that at a glance I was interested in many of the products. This is a stand out feature in comparison to Apple Pay who also allows for quick expedited purchasing.

If you haven’t created a Shop account yet, I highly recommend you do to save time completing your purchase and tracking them, which can get pretty tiresome if you’re an eager beaver for your package to arrive like me. This is another huge win for Shopify in the e-commerce landscape and I look forward to seeing how they further optimize the online customer journey in the future. Here’s a QR code if you’re interested in downloading the app, happy shopping!
