Visualizing my Experience of Kindness

The first two weeks of my journey at Amal Academy were filled with fear and skepticism. I kept asking myself questions like “Will the outcome be fruitful?” “Will I be able to do it?” “Is it worth it?” But, with time, I learned to focus on progress rather than the result. This is what developed a passion for learning in me, and I learned to try new things and to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, i.e., to step out of my comfort zone.

One of the first tasks assigned to me at Amal Academy was to do an act of kindness. I was sitting in the library, feeling blank, and at the spur of the moment, I decided to write sweet, encouraging notes for strangers to brighten up their day. I wasn’t concerned with the result but the progress, and the sense of satisfaction that I achieved was indescribable. Seeing people smile as they read my notes made my heart happy, and I was comfortable with that.

But, little did I know that this little act of kindness would have a significant impact. One day, a stranger approached me and gave me a cute note. We started talking, and over time, we became good acquaintances. Three months later, we recognized each other and always greeted each other with warmth. This little act of kindness brought smiles to people’s faces and turned strangers into friends.

In conclusion, if it wasn’t for being an Amal fellow, I would have never understood the power of a little act of kindness. It’s amazing how small acts of kindness can have a big impact on someone’s life. I learned that the smallest things we do for others can bring happiness and joy, and that’s what makes life worth living.
