“Seed Balls” is our mega project, at Amal Academy.

Seed Balls

It is an ancient technique used in Egypt, to repair farms after annual flooding of the river Nile. Seed Balls were also used by African women, in the 1700’s, to plant rice. Most recently, this technique was rediscovered by Japanese environmentalist and farmer, Mr. Masanobu Fukuoka (1913–2008), from his work after the World War II, this method got world’s attention, and now it is a proven technique to do plantation at a massive level.

Mr. Masanobu Fukuoka (1913–2008)

Q: What we plan to achieve?

Ans: We plan to achieve awareness of the concept of Seed Balls. Because currently the main plantation drives in Pakistan are run on plant sapling, which requires more care after the sapling is planted. Through seed balls, Pakistanis can do plantation at a massive scale, all they have to do is to throw the balls, and the mother nature will nurture the plants, accordingly. Moreover, we will hook up with Grrenify Pakistan, and give them the net profit from the sales of the seed balls.

Q: How do we plan on achieving your goals (timeline) and divisions of roles?

Ans: Our Group Circle Leader, Mr. Ahmad Shah, has drafted a roadmap to accomplish the mega project, it is as follow:

a. Ahmad Shah will lead the project, he will start by going to Edhi Foundation Center and collect required data and approvals for donation collection on Tuesday 11-Sept-2018. He will also go to Environmental Department of UET Lahore for data collection on Wednesday 12-Sept-2018 2. Along with all this, he will monitor the progress and assign tasks on an ad-hoc basis.

b. Arafat and Zia will handle the operations, logistics, and supplies to make seed balls.

c. Eeman will handle the social media presence. She will make the facebook page and group for the ‘Mega Project’ by 10 PM till 09-Sept-2018.

d. Hassan and Zeenat will be managing the donation drives.

e. Kashif will handle the R&D and possible linkages and collaborations.
